Abstract
The growing of sea ice and ice sheet in the southern high latitudes leads to the weakening and northward shift of the SH westerlies, which presumably played an important role in reducing atmospheric CO2 concentration by inhibiting the out-gassing of inorganic carbon in the SO during the glacial periods.
