Abstract

Phytochemical study of the lichen, Pseudocyphellaria freycinetii (Lobariaceae) led to the isolation of two hopane-type triterpenoids (1 and 2), along with two phenolic compounds (3 and 4). The structures of the compounds were identified by 1D and 2D NMR, and MS experiments, as well as by comparison of their data with published values. Compounds 2-4 were isolated for the first time in this species. All the compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity. Among the isolates, compound 1 showed considerable inhibitory activity against the Hela cell growth.
